Department of Geomatics

The geomatics department of China University of Petroleum was initiated at 1954, and at present it belongs to the College of Oceanography and Space Informatics. Department of Geomatics have two bachelor degree programs named as Geomatics Engineering and Geographic information systems (GIS), both of them were approved as a first-class major construction site in Shandong Province in 2019. In 2021, Geomatics Engineering was approved as a national first-class major construction site. There are 2 master degree programs named as Geomatics Science and Technology and Geomatics Engineering, two doctoral degree programs named as Ocean Resources and Information Engineering and Geomatics Engineering.

The geomatics department has staff of 8 professors, 13 associate professors. It has several teaching laboratories, such as the topographic survey, geodetic survey, satellite navigation and positioning, geographic information system, photogrammetry and remote sensing laboratory. By now, there are more 2500 bachelor graduates and more than 350 master and doctor graduates.

During recent five years, the geomatics department were funded by about 160 research programs, include the National Key Research and development Program and National Natural Science Foundation of China. About 200 SCI/EI papers have been published and about 40 patents have been authorized also during recent five years.
