Prof. Hongchao Fan from Norwegian University of Science and Technology was invited to give an online academic report

On September 23st, Prof. Hongchao Fan from Norwegian University of Science and Technology brought an online academic report entitled "3D City Modeling Based on Crowdsource Geographic Information Data" for teachers and students of our school.



Frist of all, Prof. Fan started with an overview of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and introduced the life and study in Norway, including the geographical location and climate of Norway.Afterwards, Prof. Fan introduced the origin, classification and related research of crowdsourced geographic information in detail, and analyzed the development and use of deep learning abroad.Then, Prof. Fan took the FacadeWHU street view image dataset as an example to explain in detail the 3D reconstruction technology based on street view images and its existing problems. Finally, there was a lively exchange and discussion with teachers and students such as Binghu Huang and Kaifei He who participated online.



Dr. Hongchao Fan is a professor of surveying and a doctoral supervisor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Sciences at Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He graduated from Wuhan University with a bachelor's degree, and obtained a master's degree and a PhD degree in surveying from the University of Stuttgart in 2006 and the Technical University of Munich in Germany in 2010, respectively.Since 2012, he has co-founded the Urban Modeling Laboratory of Heidelberg University with Prof. Alexander Zipf, presided over a number of natural fund projects in Germany, China and Norway, and served as editorial board member of many international academic journals.
